In our class, we’ve chosen to raise awareness and money for Candlelighters. This charity is important to us because the children wanted to support other children in their local area that maybe experiencing ill health. Candlelighters bring light and hope to families touched by childhood cancer in Yorkshire. They provide lifetime support services and invest in vital research.

Confidence - class virtue
At the beginning of the year, we were chosen, as a class, to represent the virtue of confidence.
We had a discussion about what confidence means to us and why it is an important virtue.
We learnt that confidence is the feeling of being secure and capable in yourself and your own abilities.
Beyond the classroom
In our class, we are looking forward to a wide range of experiences this year to help us develop our love of learning.
In the Autumn term, we will be going to Armley Mills for a Victorian classroom experience linking to our history topic which is The Victorians.
In March, Year 5 will be going to Minsteracres for their prayer residential. This is a wonderful opportunity to explore different ways of using prayer to connect and come closer to God.
Engaging with our learning
In St Andrew's this half term, we have been working with a text called 'Curiosity' to help us with our writing. It focuses on a mission to outer space and explores a wide range of language as the Mars Rover goes out to explore the desolate landscape of the planet.
