St Francis's Class
Welcome to an insight into St Francis's class, where we cherish every day to learn and love!
Our class teachers are: Miss Taylor (Monday-Wednesday) and Mr Farmer (Thursday-Friday).
Our teaching assistant is: Mrs Kanda.
Class charity
In our class, we have chosen to raise awareness and money for Pudsey in Bloom.
This is a community group dedicated to enhancing the beauty of Pudsey through plant maintenance and floral displays. As part of our charity work we are starting with our classroom and asking all children to bring a small plant which they will look after.
On Wednesday 7th October at 9.30am, a representative from the organisation will be coming into school to talk to the children about the wonderful work they do.
We will be in touch throughout the year to tell you all about our fundraising efforts.
Class virtue - Love of Learning
At the beginning of the year, we were chosen, as a class, to represent the virtue Love of Learning.
We talked about the importance of learning and how we are all lifelong learners.
We have already started demonstrating this virtue by making an excellent start to our new learning this year.
Beyond the classroom
As part of our learning beyond the classroom we are currently in the process of arranging three school trips - one per term.
In Autumn we plan to reinforce our learning in geography with a walk through the town and up to the park. We will be taking a close look at the buildings and the sights on the way.
As part of this walk, we will also be calling into the library for a story.
In the spring we plan to visit Tropical World as part of our Science topic - animals and their habitats.
In the summer, we will be going into Leeds and visiting the Cathedral as well as calling into the Central Library.

Engaging with our learning
The children have made an excellent start to Year 2 and have already begun their learning journey.
Autumn one
In English lessons we will be focusing on the story 'A River' by Marc Martin.
In RE lessons we will be learning about the story of Creation and the importance of looking after the world.
In Geography lessons we will be looking at our local area and studying the features of Pudsey.
We celebrated our school Mission day in September 2026. We celebrated with a Celebration of the Word and we got to have juice and biscuits.
We have also been learning about our class saint- St Francis.
