St Andrew's Class

Welcome to an insight into St Andrew's class, where we cherish every day to learn and love!

Our main class teacher is: Mr Leggett.

Our teaching assistant is: Mrs Meredith.

Every half term, our learning is shared through our newsletters:
St Andrew's newsletter Summer 1 2025

Class charity

In our class, we’ve chosen to raise awareness and money for Guide Dogs UK. This charity is important to us because we believe we should live in an inclusive world where no one should be left out. Thousands of people have a visual impairment and rely on Guide Dogs UK to support them to have a high quality of life. As a class, we have decided to sponsor a puppy on its journey to become a guide dog and do further research on how we can create an inclusive environment for everyone in our class. We will also take part in a fund-raising event, watch this space!

Everyone is welcome - class virtue

At the beginning of the year, we were chosen, as a class, to represent the virtue of Confidence.

Terence quote: “I can show confidence by always trying my best even if I am stuck.”

Anna quote: “A friend in my class has shown confidence when we planned and lead a collective worship.”

Through our learning, we understand the importance of how everyone is unique and special. We learn to respect and love one another through our inclusive days.

During Anti-bullying day, we wore odd socks to show that everyone is different!

We created a ‘respect web’ to show that it is important we listen to everyone’s ideas and views.

Beyond the classroom

In our class, we’ve enjoyed a wide range of experiences this year to help us develop our love of learning.

At the start of the year, we took part in bootcamp where we were pushed to our limits to complete different challenges by working as a team.

In Autumn, we explored our knowledge of local Geography when we completed fieldwork tasks during a walk-through Pudsey.

We thoroughly enjoyed the visits of two authors, poet Ian Bland and writer Jason Beresford, this half-term. They inspired us to be amazing writers through fantastic assemblies and workshops.

We were lucky enough to take part in a colour run as a class which was organised by Friends of St Josephs.

Engaging with our learning

Across the curriculum, our minds are filled with wonderful knowledge especially with the help of our exciting and fun lessons.

In St Andrews, we LOVE skipping! We practise all of the different skills ready for future competitions, including the tricky pretzel!

In Autumn. We were lucky to have Mr Burt from Diocese of Leeds to deliver our music lessons. We thoroughly enjoyed the visits of two authors, poet Ian Bland and writer Jason Beresford, this half-term.

In Spring, we explored the digestive system in Science through an exciting (but smelly!) experiment! We LOVE learning through experiments!

In History, we enhanced our learning for our topic of Romans by going on a trip to the Royal Armouries and Leeds Discovery Centre!
