Catch up funding

Catch up funding at St Josephs

At St Joseph's we understand the importance of the time which the children have lost through the national lockdown in March 2020 when their time in school was halted and access to their education was disrupted.
Since returning in September, we have swiftly and effectively assessd all of the children and established the key gaps in their learning. Using this information, we have developed a catch up programme for every child within school to support with reducing the gaps in the skills and knowledge which were lost during this time.
The key areas we will focus on with the catch up funding are:

For Early Years and Key Stage 1
  • Ensure all children have access to high quality teaching of phonics and reading and are able to achieve their goals in this area.
  • Ensure that there are enough high quality resources for every child access.
  • Develop their maths skills through excellent maths teaching using the white rose hub teaching strategies for mastery.
  • Provide small group / one to one intervention for any child in the areas of English and maths to support their gaps in learning
  • Ensure that all children have a broad and balanced curriclulum which addresses any loss of learning in this area during the Summer term.
  • Have effective plans in place to support learinng in the event of bubble closures.
  • Support the children in EYFS with the accurate development of speech, in particular, their use of pure sounds.
  • Develop and support all children with their personal, social and emotional wellbeing.
